Rethinking Funerals: A Return to Community Burials

I wanted to make funerals affordable for everyone. I was inspired to create Hosanna High Natural Burial Project 501c3. Because, for centuries, our ancestors crowdfunded community cemeteries, collecting small contributions to buy land and create private cemeteries that members could use, making burials affordable. We’re going back to that. My mission is to promote Affordable Burials.
Why I Created a Nonprofit Cemetery Society
I want to never see another funeral fundraiser. I want to make certain no other family has to sell their only transportation to lay their dad to rest. We can fix this; our community-based burial network will allow families to reclaim ancestral funeral traditions.

A Better Alternative to Traditional Funerals
The Fix
1 million people with $100 is $100,000,000. No more lonely cemetery on the hill but a thriving community that gathers for more than just grieving.
A well-managed natural cemetery could function like a regenerative forest—where each generation is returned to the earth and the land is used again over 20-50 years, not stagnant. Oyster mushrooms will make light work of it. Instead of rows of permanent headstones, families could return to the same space over time, planting new trees, flowers, or even using communal markers. Instead of buying cemetery lots into eternity, your family can buy a 100×100 lot for eternity.
This approach would also challenge the modern idea of burial space as something untouchable forever. No wonder they say we are running out of land; they want to keep the prices high and buy more land. Many cultures throughout history have reused burial grounds in cycles, understanding that the land is living, just like the people who return to it. This vision aligns with that—a burial model that embraces renewal.
- Reduce funeral costs to nearly zero, (if planned right)
- Avoid debt from dying
- Choose a burial that aligns with your ancestorial values
- Return to the earth in a natural, sustainable way
You Can’t Show Up Dead – We must have a membership to buy land.
Membership is required to be part of this movement. If you want to reclaim your right to a meaningful, affordable burial, now is the time to join.
💡 What will you do with the money you save on funerals? A cruise, pay off student loans, send a kid to college, build that new swimming pool? The choice is yours, and the possibilities are endless! A wise man told me, “Together we can move mountains.”
Please join me on this mission to reclaim our God given rite to a place to rest in peace.
Sincerely, let’s be trees.
